Computer Science
Backstory
A lifelong learner, my current goal is to master data science. This site is meant to reveal my motivations for learning computer science, while showcasing some recent projects that highlight my ability to devise original and creative uses of technology in a case-specific manner.
The RESEARCH portion of this website will eventually tell the story of the many experiments I performed and analyzed during my career as a neuroscience researcher. I was eventually shocked by the sheer amount of data I generated during this time, and this motivated me to become more proficient at computer programming and data analysis. The hands-on nature of my introduction to data and data processing gives me an innate ability to identify the most efficient methods of getting to the most important goal: summarize and contextualize results.
After I left my academic research positions, I spent a year working on my own and with Arizona State University's online program in software engineering to improve my computer programming skills. Amidst this study I applied to and received a position TEACHING at a public high school in Tempe, Arizona. I threw myself into this work as a way to give back to the community and encourage STEM literacy so that other people might experience the joy of research that was so important to me. During this time I honed my computational skills by creating sophisticated methods of tracking student performance and motivating engagement, while also starting a computer science program at the school and incorporating computational lessons into basic biology classes to enhance general computer literacy
